It was the coldest night of the year and after I started the car and shifted into 1st gear, something didn’t seem normal. I was able to shift into all gears with no issues. Drove approximately 40km, all highway. The issue didn’t happen until I was almost home and that’s when it happened - at first thought I mis-shifted into 3rd so I tried again and accelerated then it popped out of 3rd to neutral. Tried this three times until I had to bypass 3rd to 4th and so on.
Took the car to the dealership and they informed me of what I dreaded to hear - You need a transmission sir. Long story short, dealership was understaffed and couldn’t replace it, so they referred me to a transmission shop where I got it done along with the clutch. After all was said and done it cost me approximately 2k.
Needless to say the car runs fine now but I have bad PTSD every time shifting into 3rd gear. Love my Mazda3 because it’s great on gas, especially now.
