Apparently, this is a known issue with Mazda Infotainment systems so much so they acknowledged the problem and provided help to Mazda 3 owners (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10164268-0001.pdf) but left all other Mazda owners high and dry if they are outside their Bumper to Bumper warranty.
Based upon learning what they offered for Mazda 3 owners I contacted Mazda USA who indicated there is no recalls at this time but if I get it repaired to save receipts and I will be reimbursed later and referred me to my local dealer. Dealer indicated the head unit needed to be replaced for $1100 plus labor. I followed up with Mazda USA to see if they will at least split the cost of the unit with me, they said they would only be willing to compensate for the labor hours (which essentially totaled $225). If you are a DIY kind of person, you can get replacement screen for essentially $30 on ebay/online. Used head units seems to run about $250. I'm going to try the Youtube FIX. Come on Mazda, we deserve better than this. You know there is a problem, make it right for the rest of us with this issue.
