I had just left home and had gotten about 1.5 miles when my car sensor went off showing the temperature gauge. I looked and it was all the way on high so I immediately went to pull over. I didn't realize that as soon as the sensor came on, the vehicle shut down. We towed the vehicle to Homer Skelton Ford and they told us the water pump had gone out.
Their mechanics charged the battery, drove the car into the shop and it shut down again. At this point they call and tell us we need a new engine because the engine is locked up. Since they locked the engine up, I expected them to take responsibility and replace the engine. They refused to fix it. I took it to another mechanic. They confirm the engine is locked up.
We found a used engine with 111,000 miles. We are told this will cost us $3,000 to fix. We have found many other Ford customers that have had this same issue due to the water pump being located in the engine. I feel this is a design issue that Ford should pay to fix. I have owned Fords all of my life and never had any issues with motors prior to this. My fear is this motor will do the same thing, and I will be left having to replace another engine.
