- Finally A Solution For The Cracked Dashboard - I just purchased a 2005 toyota solara with at horribly cracked dashboard. I got about 5 bids for repairs with 3 of them telling me I had to replace the whole thing. 1 of the bids was from a toyota dealership themselves. During the 5th estimate to get it repaired he asked me to check and see if there was a recall. I did and the above link is what I found.. I AM SO EXCITED. Contact the toyota dealer number in the text and make sure your model is included. This looks as though it will cover people who have already paid for the repair and also people who need the repair in two different phases......

Noticed about 5 or 6 months ago that the dashboard was sticky, gummy and nothing I did would remove the residue. Also noticed 2 cracks in the dashboard. I'm the original owner and this car has been babied, parked inside a closed garage when not being driven. There's no reason I should be experiencing these types of problems unless Toyota used sub-par products during manufacturing, which I now know is the case.
