The Tesla X has only 1000 miles on it (it still has the temporary tags as it was delivered a month ago).
I was driving on an interstate at around 70 with three passengers today. There was a sound like a gunshot, incredibly loud. We stopped at the next safe place and could see nothing wrong with the car except that the passenger gull wing door wouldn't open. I reported the problem to Tesla via telephone and they could not see an issue on their end.
I drove it home with no further issue except now the gull wing door on the driver side won't open. Also, neither of the gull wing doors match up with the trim anymore, particularly on the driver side. Also, the paint is scrapped off on the edge of the driver side gull wing door...very strange, as if it was rubbing metal against metal.
My brother thinks that perhaps a weld broke and that was the sound like a gunshot that we heard. He believes it may be a structural failure and is unsafe to drive. I am taking it the few miles to the dealer tomorrow. Has anyone experienced anything like this with the Model X? I have a Tesla Model 3 and LOVE IT...I haven't ever had a single problem with it. That's why I bought a second Tesla......
This is very disconcerting... to say the least.
