I purchased a new 2018 Mazda and on my second inspection, at 13,500 miles was informed my back brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. My mechanic said the front were perfect, the back rotors severely rusted and pads were down to 25%. He felt it was not normal, and advised me to call the dealer to see if it would be covered under the 3year, 36,000 mile warranty.
When I called the dealer, they said No, brakes are not covered after 1year or 12,000 miles. I explained what my mechanic said, and that I was barely over the 12,000 mikes; but he was firm. So, this is a repair I didn't see coming at such a low mileage, and a definite minus on the car.
I am not a heavy breaker. Normally I get more miles from my bakes.
